Evaluación de Necesidades:
To identify the needs of the Community Hospital of Ángel Albino Corzo, a comprehensive methodology was applied, combining document analysis, surveys, interviews, and fieldwork. Official health regulations and previous diagnostic reports were reviewed, and data collection tools were administered to medical, nursing, and administrative staff. Approximately 15 on-site visits were conducted to the hospital and surrounding community.
During these visits, meetings were held with the hospital director, doctors, nurses, municipal president and the community leader, providing a well-rounded and contextualized understanding of the situation.
The main issues identified include: lack of essential medical equipment, insufficient ongoing training, deteriorated infrastructure, shortage of healthcare personnel, and low community participation in preventive health efforts. This diagnosis supports the development of a project focused on equipping the hospital and training its staff to improve the quality and reach of healthcare services.
Diseño del Proyecto:
The project includes a series of coordinated activities aimed at strengthening both the operational and human capacity of the Community Hospital of Ángel Albino Corzo. First, training processes will be implemented for medical, nursing, and administrative staff, with the goal of updating their knowledge in primary care, emergency response, maternal and child health, chronic disease management, and biosafety protocols. These training sessions will be delivered in a blended format, combining in-person workshops with digital resources, and will be endorsed by health sector institutions to ensure their relevance and quality.
Simultaneously, the project will involve the acquisition and installation of essential medical equipment, prioritizing critical areas such as diagnostics, emergency care, laboratory services, and general consultation. All equipment will be delivered with technical manuals, and practical induction sessions will be provided to ensure proper use by the staff.
As part of the community outreach component, the project will organize rapid testing campaigns both at the hospital and in nearby localities. These mobile health brigades will enable early detection of conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, HIV, syphilis, hepatitis, pregnancy, and respiratory illnesses, contributing to the prevention and control of prevalent diseases in the region.
Finally, a monitoring and evaluation system will be established to measure the project’s impact through specific indicators, such as improvements in service quality, the number of tests administered, staff participation in training, and user satisfaction. This component will ensure continuous feedback and the long-term sustainability of the implemented actions.
Beneficiarios:
The equipment and training project for the Community Hospital of Ángel Albino Corzo is designed to benefit an estimated 108,000 people, both directly and indirectly. Direct beneficiaries include the hospital’s medical, nursing, and administrative staff, as well as the patients who receive care within its facilities. Indirect beneficiaries encompass the broader population of the municipality and surrounding communities, who will benefit from improved quality, accessibility, and efficiency of healthcare services, as well as from outreach activities such as health promotion and early detection campaigns.
Sostenibilidad:
The project’s strategy to sustain its expected outcomes over the long term is based on three key pillars: operational continuity, community ownership, and institutional strengthening. First, continuous training for healthcare personnel will be promoted to ensure that knowledge remains up to date and that the newly acquired equipment is used effectively and responsibly. In addition, internal protocols and monitoring committees will be established to oversee the proper use, maintenance, and replacement of resources.
Community engagement will also play a central role, with ongoing health education and prevention campaigns designed to strengthen the relationship between the hospital and the population it serves. Finally, the project will seek to align with government programs and collaborate with local organizations to secure technical support and resource management, ensuring the continuity and scalability of the actions implemented.
