Clean Water, Healthy Children

Project Objective:

The project objectives are:
Primary and secondary schools in Saltillo face an urgent need: access to clean drinking water. Many of these institutions lack adequate purification systems, which restricts access to clean water and negatively impacts the health of students and teachers.
1. It involves the installation of a drinking water purification system in several schools, with the aim of providing the school community with clean, safe drinking water.
2. Improve the health and well-being of students and teaching staff.
3. Prevent diseases associated with the consumption of non-potable water.
4. Promote healthy hydration habits
5. Reduce the consumption of single-use plastics.
6. Generate a sustainable impact in educational communities.

Community Assessment:

The evaluation process was based on the following points:
1. Surveys of parents and teachers
2. Meeting with administrators and parents at the facilities, reviewing the current drinking fountain areas for students, teachers, administrators and parents of each of the beneficiary schools
3. zone distribution mapping to included the peripheral part of the city.
4. Evaluation of water conditions at each school

Project Design:

1. Determine the needs of the community
2. Define the project to be carried out.
3. Conduct a survey of facilities to assess available spaces
4. Prepare 3 quotes for the equipment needed to carry out the project
5. Determine the number of schools that will be able to benefit
6. Grant registration within RI
7. Attending Project Fairs to obtain resources and sponsors
8. Preparation of Memoranda of Agreements with Directors and Parents
9. Develop a training program and schedule
10. Evaluation of water conditions at each school
11. Project implementation and area adaptation
12. Training of personnel for the handling and evaluation of equipment
13. Project inauguration by school
14. Provide an individual insulated water container to each student

This project will directly improve life quality of 7,527 people and an approximate indirect impact on 22,581 people, overall , it will support 30,108 people.

PET recycling program - the school is responsible for the infrastructure for
the collection and delivery of material to the supplier.
8. Sustainability agreement between the school and the Rotary Club for the materials
required for the team to work continuously.
